PATRICIA STONESIFER JOINS MIRAVAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS
July 19, 2010 (Tucson, AZ) – Miraval, the healthy living company and top-rated destination spa resort located in Tucson, today announced that Patty Stonesifer, Chairman of the Smithsonian Institution's Board of Regents and former CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has joined Miraval’s Board of Directors. This addition brings the Miraval board of directors to eight members, which also includes AOL Co-founder Steve Case, Cathie Black, Chairman of Hearst Magazines, and Philippe Bourguignon, Miraval Chairman and CEO and former CEO of EuroDisney and ClubMed, among others.
“Patty brings a wealth of experience, insight and leadership that will be invaluable to our Board,” said Bourguignon. “She will play an integral role in guiding Miraval’s expansion to more destinations, making our experiences even more accessible, meaningful and more a way of life.”

Stonesifer serves as a private philanthropic advisor; Chair of the board of regents of the Smithsonian Institution and Senior Advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition to her work in philanthropy, she serves on the board of directors of Amazon.com, The Broad Institute and The Center for Global Development. Prior to her role at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Stonesifer was a senior vice president at Microsoft. Patty is a board member of the Academy of Arts & Sciences and the Council on Foreign Relations. Stonesifer has also served on the U.S. delegation to the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on AIDS.
In July 1996, Stonesifer was named as one of the 25 Most Influential People in America by Time magazine.
