Since 2004, MaryGrace has been passionately teaching at Miraval, the acclaimed destination spa nestled in the Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona. At Miraval, MaryGrace brings her deep knowledge and understanding of “Heart Centered Communication” and “Lovingkindness Meditation” to her expression as a teacher of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness. In 2011, MaryGrace traveled with Lindblad Expedititons and National Geographic to Azores, Madeira, Canary & Channel Isles. In the fall of 2012 MaryGrace was the first specialist to travel the world for Miraval Journeys as a yoga and meditation specialist in Croatia.
Beyond her foundational training, MaryGrace has studied yoga therapeutics with several master teachers including Darren Rhodes, Christina Sells, and Noah Maze. She continues to sharpen her mindfulness skills and meditation experience by attending extended retreats every year as she has for the last 11 years. She shares, “My two beautiful teenage daughters continue to be my most cherished teachers and students. Through them I have learned to bring a playful as well as spiritual nature to all my teaching.”
Alysa first became interested in Meditation and Yoga, when her mother introduced her to meditation at the age of 12. She received her certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher from the Providence Institute in Tucson, Arizona and has certifications as both a Prenatal Instructor and Structural Yoga Therapist. Alysa’s diverse background in art, dance and performance weaves its way through her classes as she guides her students through their practice with a focus on breath awareness, humor and play. She enjoys threading various yoga styles and influences into her classes, as well as incorporating the use of basic Ayurvedic principles, mudras, and pranayama techniques to enrich each class as a truly unique and joyful experience that can be taken with them off the mat and into their day.
Alysa received her B.F.A. in Fine Arts and from Portland State University in 2003 and returned to Tucson shortly thereafter and continues to be active in her community as a participant of Tucson’s All Souls Procession. As her Yoga practice has deepened over the years she continues to find inspiration from the world around her. Alysa’s hope it is that her students should leave feeling as well if not better than when they entered her class.
Catie first practiced yoga at age 15 at the Kripalu Center, in Western Massachusetts, and her interest and love of the practice has only deepened with time, guiding her to teach what she loves. Over the years she has studied in Boston, Hawaii, and Tucson, steeped in the traditions of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Anusara, and moving into Therapeutics, Aerial, Restorative, and other varieties of Hatha yoga. Finding joy and solace in the outdoors has always complimented her life, and she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Prescott College in Women’s Perspectives in Outdoor Education, a place where she also rooted herself in the beginnings in new chapters of her journey with yoga, studying with Anusara certified teachers.
Catie has had the privilege receive her teaching certification with master teachers, Darren Rhodes and Christina Sell, in their School of Yoga, and loves learning from Elena Brower, Amy Ippoliti as well as the many of the skilled teachers here in Tucson. Her journey of meditation began years ago as well; she has participated in group practices and sessions, and continues to cultivate and develop a personal practice. Yoga and meditation continue to expand in her life, and she brings enthusiasm and heartfelt authenticity for the gifts they present into her teaching.
Catie’s yoga classes are alignment focused, and heart centered, with sensitivity to everyone’s unique body of experience and infused with a balance of strength and lightness. Her classes encourage students to feel empowered and inspired within the journey of their own practices. Most of all, she aims to give back her passion for yoga and other centering practices to benefit others on their individual journeys.
