Kephart Taiz Creator of Taiz Sensorium

Kephart Taiz

Kephart Taiz is a musician, inventor, and pioneer in the field of therapeutic vibroacoustics.* Kephart began researching the healing benefits of sound and ways of creating meditative states without actually meditating. His love of nature, intrigue with altered states of awareness, and experimentation with audio technology led Kephart to the invention of the TAIZ Sensorium.

The Sensorium is a sonic machine that massages the entire body with music-driven vibration to stimulate the imagination, quiet the mind and promote memories and dream-like states of consciousness. The vigorous vibration increases blood circulation and relaxes muscles, creating surprising experiences that have been compared to the “ecstasy of a runner's high”, the “rush of a roller coaster ride”, and sensations of soaring.

Each session is mixed live and layers nature sounds with compositions from a variety of musicians. Pulsing drums, cello, and piano resound with rolling thunder, crashing waves, and bird songs to create a journey of the magnificent forces of Earth. Taiz uses rhythmic rocking to move the body with the music and incorporates aromatherapy to fully engage the senses, evoke emotions, and inspire the imagination.

The Sensorium was featured in the Wall Street Journal, De Young Museum in San Francisco, and was listed in the New York Times. SpaFinder listed it as the “Top Ten Spa Trends for 2012”.Taiz continues to develop new techniques that combine technology with holistic arts for activating, balancing, and restoring the senses.
