Red Sea Global embodies the next generation of luxury and wellness. From the Ummahat Islands, which have housed two of their most exclusive resorts since 2024, to the white sandy beaches with thriving coral reefs, the experiences you can have while visiting are limitless. The natural beauty of Saudi Arabia, paired with each resort's exceptional architecture, amenities, and offerings, is second to none.

Sustainability

Red Sea Global uses naturally constructed wetlands and treats wastewater sustainably to reuse in vital habitats — for irrigation that aims to restore the desert landscape one drop at a time. In collaboration with the Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP), they aim to protect and help regenerate coral ecosystems, which saw a 14 percent decline worldwide from 2009 to 2018.

Global Significance

With an unwavering commitment to sustainability, luxury, and innovation, Miraval The Red Sea partnered with the Red Sea Global initiative to be a leader in tourism and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 specifically. Limiting yearly visitors to 1 million prevents the area from becoming overrun with visitors and support staff. With each new property, Red Sea Global can focus on sustainability and eco-friendly options without sacrificing excellence and luxury.

Sustainability Focus

Setting the standard for sustainable development, Red Sea Global is the host of the largest landscape nurseries in the region. Since 2020, it aligns with the planet-first approach and features local plants, flowers, and other vegetation. With over 5 million plants grown for current properties, that number is expected to reach 30 million by 2030 and 50 million mangrove trees by 2030. Sustainability carries through in the way visitors arrive at The Red Sea. Airlines operating at the Red Sea International Airport will use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which reduces carbon emissions and fuel consumption by up to 35%. Moreover, Red Sea Global received the highest-ever LEED ranking to date. The coveted Platinum LEED v4.1 Cities: Plan and Design accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a testament to Red Sea Global's steadfast dedication to sustainability. It also stands as a notable milestone in the development and possibility of regenerative tourism destinations. While in The Red Sea Global properties, visitors will notice fully electric and carbon-neutral buses for employee transportation and charging stations for visitors' electric vehicles — saving approximately 500,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. Red Sea Global aspired to and continues to set the world standard for responsible and sustainable development worldwide. This promise requires all components to work in unison for the employees, visitors, residents, community, and country while protecting the planet.

Location

Occupying over 28,000 square kilometers adjacent to the world's fourth-largest barrier reef system, guests can enjoy activities in the air, sea, and land. With 90 dormant volcanoes, mountain canyons, 90 untouched islands, dunes, diving, and more, the location could not be more appealing to the discerning traveler. The Red Sea Global initiative will span 22 islands and six inland locations. Collectively, there will be 8,000 rooms and 1,000 residential properties. In all, there will be no more than 1 million visitors per year to help preserve the integrity of the ecosystem at The Red Sea. Shura Island connects to the mainland with a 1.2-kilometer bridge — the longest bridge currently in Saudi Arabia. Additional properties inland and on the coast offer proximity to yachting, races, and more.

Scale and Development

Phase one of The Red Sea Global project involves opening 16 resorts across three islands and two inland locations for 3,000 available rooms, suites, villas, and homes throughout 2024 and 2025. We expect 50 properties and 8,000 keys by 2030. Further, Thuwal Private Retreat opened in 2024 as a single-hotel destination, and AMAALA's first phase with eight resorts will open this year (2025) and will be fully completed in 2030 with 30 resorts.

With a portfolio that includes 16 resorts coming to completion in 2025, and an additional 34 by 2030, The Red Sea Global is expanding with intention.

Each property plan has faced ethical corporate governance practices and specific guidelines for approval. Whether a guest prefers an island property like those found on Shura Island or an inland property like Desert Rock with undisrupted views of the horizon, every detail is carefully planned and considered.

Wellness and Spas

With a focus on relaxation and balance, properties within Red Sea Global offer various wellness options and spa treatments from local and international professionals.

Pairing well-trained specialists with spaces that harmonize the guests’ entire experience with their surroundings, Red Sea Global desires to provide experiences that restore and refresh the individual. Most of the properties offer day packages and exclusive packages for overnight guests.

Beaches and Marine Life

Access to marine life and water exploration is close by for those staying on one of our islands or a property on the coastline. The property on Sheybarah Island has a reef for diving access within meters of the resort. Further, the inland properties are less than an hour’s drive to the beaches.

In the spirit of sustainability, less than one percent of the total site area will be developed, and 75 percent of the islands will be preserved and conserved. By 2040, the property aims to have a 30 percent net positive conservation benefit, which will be achieved by enhancing biodiversity and focusing on key habitats.

The rich ancestral offerings of Saudi Arabia are not lost on the properties. Instead, its rich cultural heritage is celebrated and integrated throughout the guests’ stay.

Offsetting carbon footprints, reducing emissions, and utilizing local resources whenever possible, Red Sea Global is satisfying its promise to promote and maintain eco-tourism from its inception to its completion and decades beyond.
