Gregory Scott Brown, MD, is a psychiatrist and writer. A regular contributor for Men’s Health and the Washington Post, he writes about topics related to mental health in popular culture, evidence-based self-care, and how to find and sustain fulfillment. His commentary has been featured on the “Today Show,” the “PBS News Hour,” and “Live with Kelly and Mark.” He lives in Houston, Texas, with his wife.

Psychiatrist Gregory Scott Brown’s first book, “The Self-Healing Mind: An Essential Five-Step Practice for Overcoming Anxiety and Depression and Revitalizing Your Life,” introduces the five pillars of self-care (sleep, spirituality, nutrition, breathwork, and movement) as strategies you can quickly learn to implement. A Strategy for Overcoming Burnout
Most familiar coping strategies—so-called “passive” or “avoidant” ones– do little to eliminate stress at its source. The concept of active coping has been studied since the 1990s; however, it has not received much attention. Join this workshop to learn about active coping, our misconceptions of it, and how to use it as a mental health superpower to reduce stress.
